Privacy Policy
Lift doesn’t collect your data. Text is recognized entirely on your Mac, and nothing you capture ever leaves it.
Effective October 3, 2026
- Lift does not collect, store, sell or share personal information.
- Text recognition happens entirely on your Mac. Nothing you capture is uploaded — Lift has no network access.
- There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party code.
- Lift keeps no history. Captured images exist only in memory, only for as long as a capture lasts.
Who we are
Lift is a Mac app made by Mahtca Global (“we”). This policy explains what the Lift app and this website do with information. If anything here is unclear, write to lifte@mahtca.com.
Information Lift collects
None. Lift does not collect any data from you or your Mac, and we never receive anything you capture. Lift’s App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.
What happens when you capture
When you press the capture shortcut or choose Capture Text, Lift takes a still image of your screen so you can choose an area. That image is held in memory on your Mac only.
- To highlight text as you move the pointer, Lift finds where text is on the screen. It reads the words only in the area you select.
- Recognition runs on your Mac using Apple’s on-device text recognition.
- When the capture ends, the image and the result are discarded. They are never written to disk, uploaded or shared.
- Lift never captures in the background, and never records video or audio.
The clipboard
Lift copies the recognized text to your clipboard as plain text. It reads your clipboard only if you choose Append to Clipboard, so it can add to what is already there — macOS may ask for your permission first.
As with anything you copy, text on the clipboard can be seen by clipboard-manager apps you have installed, and may be shared with your other Apple devices through Universal Clipboard if Handoff is turned on. These are macOS features outside Lift.
Things you choose to do
Some actions on the result card, available in Lift Pro, hand the text to another app — but only when you click them:
- Search opens a Google search for the text in your web browser. From that point Google’s privacy policy applies.
- Open link, compose an email or call a number hands the link, address or number to the app that handles it.
- Save writes a text file to the location you choose.
- Speak reads the text aloud with your Mac’s built-in speech, on your Mac.
Settings stored on your Mac
Lift remembers your preferences — such as your shortcut, preferred languages and display options — in your Mac’s standard preferences storage. They stay on your Mac and are never transmitted.
Purchases
Lift Pro is an in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the Mac App Store. We never receive your payment details or your Apple Account information. To know whether Lift Pro is unlocked, Lift asks macOS whether the purchase exists and keeps a single yes-or-no answer on your Mac. Apple’s handling of purchases is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Permissions
- Screen Recording (called Screen & System Audio Recording in newer versions of macOS) — required so Lift can see the area you select. Lift never records audio.
- Launch at Login — optional, if you want Lift ready after you start your Mac.
Lift does not ask for Accessibility, Input Monitoring, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or location access.
Diagnostics
Lift writes brief technical messages to your Mac’s system log — counts, timings and error codes, never captured text or images. They stay on your Mac. If you have chosen in macOS to share crash data with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports under Apple’s own terms; they contain no captured content.
Children
Lift does not collect information from anyone, including children.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Like any website, the server that hosts it may briefly keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and keep them secure. The Mac App Store badge is loaded from Apple’s servers, which receive the standard information your browser sends when loading an image.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will be highlighted here.
